Alison Bass – Journey to Success

Alison began her journey with Employability Services towards the end of 2017, when she began a voluntary placement opportunity within Hope Specialist Services as a Trainee Admin Assistant.

Alison had not been in employment since 2011, as she had concentrated on raising her family.  She had however gained a lot of transferrable skills within her previous customer service roles.   Alison was very confident with her people skills, but

admitted that some of her computer skills may be a bit rusty.  She was however extremely willing to learn and was delighted to be offered a placement within Hope Specialist Service where she was given the opportunity to develop.  Whilst on placement Alison completed a Level 2 certificate in Principles of Business Administration and now, having recently been successful in gaining an apprenticeship within the service, is working toward a full Intermediate Apprenticeship Standard.

Amanda Thomas, Apprenticeship Development Officer, who supported Alison throughout her voluntary placement says, “Alison truly deserves the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship.  She has shown her commitment and motivation right from the start, and I look forward to continuing to support her throughout her apprenticeship”.
