Community Learning Disability Team Complete Step Challenge!

The Care Plus Group Community Learning Disability Team and Friends have just completed a very successful ‘Step Challenge’ which kicked off in October.  This was the Pilot challenge to see how well people took to it and was a huge success!

Ten team leaders from the Community Learning Disability Team took part in the challenge and each team had five members, including one service user. The team leaders introduced simple ways of increasing their teams daily activity such as, using the stairs, going for a lunch time stroll and walking to work. Everybody reported back that they had thought about how little activity they actually do during a week. Using pedometers, participants measured their daily step counts and clocked up a staggering 14 million steps in total! Collectively, those who took part walked a virtual distance to Miami! Well done to all participants!!

The winning team – ‘All in a Days Walk’ walked 3295467 steps collectively, all the way to Strasburg! Congratulations to Anna Lenton & her team.

A presentation event was held on the 5th December at Cafe4, Queen Street where ‘I love walking!’ mugs were presented to the winning team and certificates for all the runners up.

Thanks go to Health Promotion NELC for providing the step pedometers
