Inna, a Ukrainian guest in the UK, began working with Employability Services when she was referred by Job Centre Plus in July.
Despite having to leave her home in Ukraine and start a new life in the UK, Inna remained focused, hopeful and had an overall determination to succeed.
Initially, she supported Care Plus Group Employability Services on a Ukrainian guest event as a translator. She supported fellow guests with communication barriers and ensuring they were able to communicate with various organisations, to receive the help and support they needed.
Inna also registered with Employability Services herself and with support and guidance explored various career avenues.
Inna quickly realised, due to her having personal experiences of the barriers and difficulties Ukrainian refugees may encounter when arriving in the UK, that she wanted to help and support others, as she was able to relate to and identify their potential needs.
Inna was successful in gaining a post with NELC as a Refugee Integration Support Officer. Subsequently, Inna has truly flourished and gains a great deal of job satisfaction in the knowledge that she is making a significant difference to people’s lives.
Helen, Refugee Employability Support Officer said:
“It has been a pleasure to support and guide Inna through her journey. It is so rewarding to see how Inna has progressed and developed both personally and within her career”.
Inna has recently contacted Helen via email. In the email she said:
“Thank you very very much for your support and help in my journey Helen. I really appreciate it.”
