Christopher celebrates the success of gaining paid employment following his referral to Employability Services.
During Christopher’s initial interview with his Support Officer, it was identified that he was very determined to find work and would consider various programmes to help him achieve this. Ultimately, Christopher engaged on a voluntary work placement at Women’s Aid as a Retail Assistant. This position helped Christopher to build his confidence and self-esteem by pro-actively having something positive to focus on each day.
During his initial placement review, it was identified that Christopher may require further one on one support with Employability Skills such as on-job training, applications and interviews. He was therefore transferred to the Supported Employment Initiative of Employability Services to enable this to take place.
Following some intense guidance and specific signposting, Christopher was successful in gaining paid employment within a local factory; Recipe Dish, Europarc, Grimsby. He is ecstatic about this opportunity and says he “cannot wait to finally have his first pay packet in time for Christmas”.
Christopher’s support officer Tracy Chaplin stated that “I am looking forward to continuing Christopher’s support whilst he is in paid employment. This is all part of the Supported Employment Initiative that we offer. That way I can support him to sustain his job.”
