Growing Confidence – Lewis’ Story

Lewis has recently joined the Supported Employability Service to gain confidence and improve his social skills.

Lewis struggled with meeting new people and had become socially isolated. He enjoys the outdoors and was looking for a relatively quiet environment where he could slowly build his confidence and meet new people.

Following his support from Employability Services, he has successfully secured a voluntary placement at Grant Thorald Park managing their garden.

We asked Lewis about what he thinks of his new placement. He said:

“This is a tranquil and chilled environment. I so very much love working in the garden here! I have therefore recently extended my hours of attendance.”

Annette Dray, Lewis’ Employability Support Officer commented on her time supporting Lewis. She said:

“It is great to see Lewis growing in confidence and becoming more sociable. I am pleased that he now feels able to go out into the community more and has increased the number of hours attending placement”.
