Jason receives recognition for his contribution to the Community within his home town of Immingham, where he works within the Grounds Maintenance Team at Immingham Town Council.
Jason initially engaged with Employability Services Supported Employment to help him gain paid employment when preparing to leave college and move into Adulthood. After conducting a work based Supported Internship Jason stayed on in a paid position until his employer closed several months later. Jason was fortunate to gain further employment with his current employers; Immingham Town Council in conjunction with Immingham in Bloom.
Immingham Town have recently achieved a Gold Award (2017) for their Immingham in Bloom status through an excellent combined effort by local residents and the Grounds Maintenance Team (Immingham Town Council) and will appear on National Television in the New Year to track their journey.
This new role brings Jason into the community of his home town as he conducts such tasks as Litter Picking, Sweeping, Weeding, and Planting. Jason is already well known and liked by many community citizens due to his friendly personality and contagious smile.
It was therefore no surprise when Jason was announced as the proud winner of the Community Award for his contribution to the town. He was presented with a plaque to remember the moment by Immingham Town Mayor Cllr. Stewart Swinburn and independently went on stage to collect it.
Tracy Chaplin, Jason’s Employability Support Officer was also present to witness the event and stated “…it was a very proud moment to see how Jason had progressed in character as well as confidence; the award was well deserved…”. Jason was very well supported by family and work colleagues from his team who all agreed that “Jason brings light into their day whenever he is at work…it is lovely to work with him”.
