Julie Hawkins, Complex Case Manager is running the London Marathon next month and is raising money for The Carers’ Support Centre:
“As some of you know I have been lucky enough to secure a place to run the London Marathon 2018! I am raising money for the Carers’ Support Centre, a local charity that looks after unpaid carers and provides valuable support and time out from the caring role.
“The Carers’ Support Centre may not be something you have heard of but they do invaluable work with often very isolated people. They have been around now for 25 years. The Carers’ Support Centre works with unpaid carers in North East Lincolnshire. They provide Information, benefits advice, counselling, advocacy, holistic therapy, training and learning and social groups. Taking time out to talk to others, have a massage or learn a new skill can really help someone who is a carer, as being a carer can often make a person feel isolated and lonely. Within my work as a nurse in the community I have often assisted people to access this service, I have particularly used them for benefits advice, advocacy and counselling. (Applying for much needed benefits can be quite stressful for people, particularly if they struggle with reading and writing). The Carers’ Support Centre even have an advice helpline 01472 242277.
“I have recently been training in snow and with the Beast from the East in my face!! I’m hoping the next 4 weeks are going to be a bit kinder to me! I’m really enjoying the training and all of the eating that goes with it!!!
“If you would like to support me and the Carers’ Support Centre please have a look at my Virgin Money Giving Page and any donations would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks xx Here is a link to my Virgin Money Giving Page.”
