Employability Services’ Supported Employment Team helps a young football fan to score and achieve his goal!
Lewis Fletcher, who is graduating this summer from Cambridge Park 6th Form Academy, is a young man with a dream – to gain work experience at Grimsby Town Football Club.
The Supported Employment teamwork with Cambridge Park Academy 16 plus to offer support to their students to gain knowledge and skills through a work experience placement.
When Lewis told the team of his dream they arranged and supported him to attend work experience at the club.
Lewis became a Trainee Club Assistant – and each week for 6 weeks took on a different task, such as making bunting to decorate the Club Shop, setting up for events in the McMenemy’s Function suite and even assisting the Groundsmen to ensure the pitch is perfect for the first games of the season.
Toni Davies – Lewis’s Supported Employment Officer, said: “Lewis has had a fantastic time working with the team at Grimsby Town and he has gained a lot of valuable work experience. Supported Employment will continue to support Lewis in his journey to gaining future employment.”
Lewis agreed, saying his time at Grimsby Town had been “great,” giving it the thumbs up.
