The Macmillan Cancer Survivorship Support Team held their 1st Living With and Beyond Cancer Conference on the 18th September 14.
Almost 60 health and social care professionals attended the event at the Oakland’s Hotel , the aim of the day was to raise awareness of the needs of people following cancer treatment and to highlight the interventions and services available to support them. The conference heard from cancer survivors and how the cancer survivorship team has made such a big difference to their lives.
The day had guest speakers on mindfulness, coping with fatigue and understanding sexuality.
The day was a great success with one practice nurse attendee stating “I didn’t realise how much I didn’t know and how crucial my role is in supporting these people.
