Dynamic Marie Tupman celebrates her amazing success after retraining as a Support Worker and becoming a newly appointed Trustee whilst on a voluntary placement with Employability Services.
When Marie - pictured right - decided to return to work after raising her children, she referred herself to Employability Services to update her skills and experience through participation on a voluntary work placement, as she wanted to re-train as a Support Worker to improve her employment prospects .
After discussing her options with a dedicated Employability Support Officer at her initial interview, Marie chose to join Foresight as a Support Worker and has gone from strength to strength.
Marie now pro-actively supports several groups and especially with the ‘Shibashi’ sessions, where she is able to utilise existing skills – as well as learning many new skills on her journey such as Makaton and Braille.
She voluntarily signed up to be involved as the Project Manager of the annual pantomime and to top off her personal success; she has also decided to become a trustee of Foresight.
Foresight’s Volunteer Co-ordinator, Theresa Khalaf – pictured left, says “Marie joined us as a volunteer in May and has worked very hard to become a very employable Support Worker. She has fantastic managerial skills and is a great asset to Foresight”
Marie’s Employability Support Officer, Toni Davies, says “Marie has a fantastic energy and presence about her and this enables her to connect with people on many levels – this is evidenced by her success at Foresight leading groups and training other people. We are confident that Marie will continue her great success and we look forward to seeing the Pantomime in December!”
