Noura was introduced to Employability Services in October 2016 when she self-referred to the service.
Noura was born in Egypt and after finishing education she worked for many years within a large Petroleum Company, starting as a Secretary and eventually being promoted to Department Manager.
In 2013 Noura moved to the UK to be with her husband. Her interest in a career within Health and Social Care began with her undertaking voluntary work at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital. She also worked voluntarily as a Teaching Assistant at an Arabic School in Grimsby for a year.
In 2015 Noura suffered a period of ill health, but this did not deter her. In 2016 she contacted Employability Services to gain their support in seeking paid employment. She was supported initially in obtaining a voluntary work placement within the Community Nursing Admin Team, where she was given the opportunity to demonstrate her excellent work ethic and high standard of work. Being keen to learn more, Noura was keen to undertake an apprenticeship and was delighted when she was offered an apprenticeship position at The Beacon. Alongside this part-time position, Noura continued to gain more experience, working as an admin bank for NAViGO.
Noura was recently offered a paid position with NAViGO, which she was delighted to accept. Amanda Thomas, Noura’s Apprenticeship Development Officer says, “It was an absolute pleasure to support Noura both within her voluntary work placement and her apprenticeship. I have no doubt that with Noura’s determination, pro-active approach and work ethic, she will succeed in all her endeavours and I wish her every success”.
