Pauline Denniss – ‘Journey to success’ (Employability Success Story)

Pauline began her journey with Employability Services in June 2016 when she commenced a voluntary work placement within the Orthopaedic Department at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital.

Having previously worked in a managerial position within the fast food industry and for the Military Police in Cyprus as an administrator, Pauline had a lot of transferable skills but needed to update her qualifications and gain experience of Patient Administration Systems in order to increase her chances of employment within the Health & Social Care Sector.

Pauline enjoyed her time on placement but was keen to secure paid employment. Her Employability Support Officer encouraged her to apply for an Apprentice Administration Assistant role within the Health & Social Care organisation, NAViGO and having been successful with her application, Pauline began her apprenticeship in October 2016.  Pauline started working towards a Level II in Business Administration and more recently was successful when she applied for a banded position within another area of NAViGO.

Amanda Thomas, Apprenticeship Development Officer says, “Pauline has been an asset to Employability Services, having followed the pathway from voluntary placement through to substantive employment.  She was determined to achieve her goals and I wish her every success for the future”.
