Naila began working with Employability Services in April 2022 as she was looking to gain paid work within the Health & Social Care sector the UK, having emigrated from Azerbaijan.
Although Naila had worked within care in her home country, one of her barriers to gaining employment was no experience working within the Health and Social Care sector in the UK. To address this barrier, with the support of Employability Services, Naila completed a voluntary placement with a local organisation supporting adults with disabilities, where she gained valuable transferable skills like confidence and communication skills.
Following this placement Employability Services continued to work closely with Naila, assisting her with job search and interview techniques, the result being that she gained paid employment with a local Care Home as a Care Support Worker.
When asked about her experience, Naila said:
“I would like to thank Employability Services for their assistance. They gave me confidence, support and good advice. Thank you”
Sandie Turner, Employability Support Officer said:
“It has been an absolute pleasure to support and guide Naila through her journey into employment. Naila was always positive and enthusiastic whilst applying for jobs and this paid off. Well done, Naila!”
