Regional Ambassadors aim to raise profile of Health and Social Care Apprenticeships

Three Care Plus Group employees have pledged to spread the word about Apprenticeships by signing up to be Apprenticeship Ambassadors for the region.

Sharon Stead, Employability Services Manager at Care Plus Group has joined the ‘The Yorkshire and Humber Ambassador Network’ and has become an Apprenticeship Ambassador for the region. Local talents and ex-apprentices Alex Smith (Rehabilitation assistant) and Bryndis Halldorsson (Associate Practitioner) will also be supporting Sharon with her role by becoming ‘I Care ambassadors’ and sharing their personal journey in order to increase recognition of apprenticeships and the benefits through real life experiences.

Sharon will be the face of Apprenticeships for the health and social care sector, spearheading the drive to engage new employers whilst supporting local talent onto a pathway of employment.

The Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network (ANN) promotes all aspects of apprenticeships, especially the developing areas of traineeships, higher levels and new sectors.

Sharon has pledged to use her extensive knowledge to become an advocate for Apprenticeships to stimulate the economy and bridge the skills gap within health and the social care sector across the region. Sharon’s role will include mentoring employers, sharing best practise regarding the Governments Apprenticeship reforms, supporting academies and college engagements, high profile events, business forums and in the media.

Sharon Stead has already been proactive in championing apprenticeships by recruiting 2 ex-apprentices to support her in her role, whilst already publicly speaking to employers at the local LEP.

Sharon Stead said ‘I am passionate and dedicated to supporting the increase of Apprenticeships within the Yorkshire and Humber health and social care and other sectors I have recruited two talented ex-apprentices to become ‘I Care ambassadors to support my aims, endorsing their own personal journeys to show the public real life benefits of recruiting and partaking in an apprenticeship.
