The Kickstart programme is a government initiative aimed at supporting young people aged 16-24 years onto an employment pathway by providing funding to create job placements.
Shannon first began her journey with Care Plus Group Employability Services when she joined the service seeking an opportunity to gain skills within the Health & Social Care sector. Her dedicated Support Officer identified the potential in Shannon and suggested a Traineeship within the Continence Service. Once on placement Shannon went from strength to strength! At the end of her Traineeship Shannon was certain that this was the sector she would like to progress her career in. She was referred by her DWP work coach to apply for the Kickstart position and was successful! Shannon was supported by Care Plus Group Employability Services throughout the recruitment process and this support will continue during the term of her Kickstart employment.
Shannon is delighted to have gained the role stating: “Being able to work with the Continence Team on the Kickstart role means I can learn so much more! I am liking the admin side of things and I hope to one day be involved in the paediatric side of the service. I have learnt so much already being part of the Traineeship program and I am glad that I have been given the opportunity to learn so much more. Working with the most amazing people boosts my ability to get over any hurdle that is in the way! I just want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone for giving me to opportunity to work with you all”.
