The Freeman Street Flats Project by the Tuesday Picture Box Group

Picture Box are six friends from Cromwell Road Resource Centre with learning difficulties who access Open Door on Tuesday’s.

The group enjoy spending social time together whilst working on individual and shared art projects.

Our current exhibition The Freeman Street Flats Project in the foyer of Open Door, Albion Street, documents the demolition of the Grimsby flats which the group has witnessed on their departure and arrival from the venue every Tuesday.

A current member of Picture Box, Jenny, lived in one of the flats as a baby and along with her friends, has taken a keen interest on the developments throughout 2018.

For the show, we’ve made a model and magazine which we’re exhibiting alongside a small selection of photographs.

The group are now keen to find out what will happen next on the land formerly occupied by the flats.

The show runs until: Tuesday 12th of February at Open Door, Albion Street, Grimsby, DN32 7DL
