Community Occupational Therapy

Community Occupational Therapists support people with complex and intermediate eligible needs. Such people will have temporary but significant levels or enduring loss of physical function in daily living skills. Examples are people who cannot access their accommodation to be independent in essential daily living tasks; people requiring rehabilitation following a stroke; people at the end of life; people who are planning to return home from temporary community care placement; people with moving and handling difficulties.

Community Occupational Therapists take referrals for adults in the above categories; children who have housing access needs to essential facilities. Self referrals are subject to a self assessment questionnaire to check eligibility. If not eligible people are signposted to local suppliers and do not get offered a professional assessment.
