Macmillan Living with & Beyond Cancer Team

There is increasing acknowledgement that people who have completed cancer treatment need help and Support. Adjusting to life after cancer treatment or living with cancer can provoke strong emotions and possible fears for the Future. Cancer survivors have new challenge's to cope with physical, psychological and social needs.

The aim of the service is to provide personalised care based on individuals need to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. To improve confidence and motivation to enable patients to manage their own health & wellbeing.

The service offers appointments in primary care and community setting which may be one-to-one, group, telephone or email support.

We are a nurse lead team who provide information , advice and follow-up care for all cancer patients and their carers/ families who are at the end of active treatment.

The patient can access a full programme of support including self-management options.

These will include:

  • One-to-one emotional support
  • A six week Living with & Beyond Cancer supported self-management programme.
  • Fatigue management
  • Sexuality & Relationship support
  • Nutrition & Diet Management
  • Physical effects of cancer & treatment
  • Telephone clinic
  • Monthly Support group
  • Employment & Financial support
  • Hobbies & life after treatment
  • Weekly Walking group– A step in the right direction
  • Six week taster session - yoga & Pilates
  • Personalised physical activity programmes
