Barry joined Accord (the community membership body for North East Lincolnshire) when it was originally formed. He became a Lay Member of the Provider Services Associate Board during the formation of the Care Plus Group and NAViGO (the mental health social enterprise in North East Lincolnshire). He remained as a Lay Member on the Shadow Board for each of the new organisations and has continued as a Lay Member to the Council of Governors for Care Plus Group.
Barry is a Chartered Engineer and a registered European Engineer. As well as working for a number of UK companies he has worked on large-scale projects in Yugoslavia, Saudi Arabia and India.
Since retiring, Barry has become involved in voluntary work and is Chair of the Cleethorpes Renaissance Town Team. During the last few years he has had first-hand experience of several aspects of the Health Service due to serious illness of several close family members and friends.
