Community Benefit Societies are Incorporated Industrial and Provident Societies (IPS) that conduct business for the benefit of their community. Profits are not distributed among members, or external shareholders, but returned to the organisation to maintain and develop services for the benefit of their communities. Community Benefit Societies are set up with social objectives and are run and managed by their members.
A Community Benefit Society is about society. It’s embracing of staff, giving each staff member a vote, and is inclusive of staff views and opinions. Ensuring staff have a voice means Care Plus Group consistently understands the needs of the communities we work in and continues to deliver the services needed.
A Social Business is a business or service which primarily has social objectives. Like any business, it aims to makes a profit through providing goods or services to customers. The difference between a business and a social business is that social business reinvests its profits back into making a difference rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
As a social business we have greater flexibility. Any profit made by Care Plus Group is reinvested back into the development and delivery of services so, alongside delivering the contracts we already have, we can constantly evolve and develop the services we offer to communities to better meet people’s needs.
Care Plus Group is owned by its staff. Every member of staff has a personal single vote.
